Ep. 34 - Fundraising for Alexey Pertsev & Roman Storm's legal aid
This week, Matthew and Brileigh are joined by Ameen Soleimani. Ameen is a co-founder of Spank Chain—a payment platform for the adult industry—co-founder of Iran Unchained, a non-profit providing humanitarian aid in Iran—and a member of Moloch DAO, which has provided funding for open-source projects on Ethereum, including Tornado Cash.
In this episode, Ameen tells us about the recent history of Tornado Cash: how it got started, what led to the arrests of Roman Storm and Alexey Pertsev, and why Ameen is taking a stand to fundraise for their legal defense. With Alexey’s trial coming up in March 2024 and Roman’s later in the fall, legal expenses range from $90k - $100k/month. The next 6 months will be crucial in shaping their defense strategy and their arrests carry serious implications for developers’ rights to publish open-source software.
Ameen and other supporters formed WeWantJusticeDAO which engaged an international team of legal counsel to represent Roman and Alexey. Justice DAO has launched a crowdfund on Juicebox and all funds raised until February 22nd will support the legal aid of Pertsev & Storm. Alexey and Roman need your help to defend the right to privacy and the right to publish code.

Ep. 30 - Coordination, DAO tooling, and building community with Zeugh
Welcome back to another episode of the Juicebox podcast. This week Matthew and Brileigh are joined by Zeugh. Zeugh was an early JuiceboxDAO contributor, the founder of CanuDAO, and previous Community Lead for DAO launcher Origami.
In this episode, Zeugh tells us about his experience working for both companies and DAOs, how bots can help build and maintain communities, and get his take on how DAOs have evolved over the last two years. He also gives us his advice for launching a DAO and how to build community, the DAO and coordination tooling that he’s most excited about going forward, and his reflections on attending crypto conferences over the last couple of years.
This episode was one of the most chaotic behind-the-scenes. It was recorded in two parts because of internet connectivity issues and features interruptions by deliveries, grandmas, kids ringing doorbells, dogs, planes… the list goes on. In part 3 of the ConstitutionDAO retrospective series, Matthew and Brileigh are joined by members of PeopleDAO including AA, MatterTurbulent, and Matt Wyatt from Nucleo.After the ConstitutionDAO core team decided to wind down the project, a new community formed around the $PEOPLE token: PeopleDAO.
In this episode, Matthew and Brileigh trace the chronology of the events that took place after the Sotheby’s auction on November 18, 2021 and how PeopleDAO was formed as a metaDAO to incubate other subDAOs including PandaDAO and LanguageDAO. Almost exactly a year later, Sotheby’s is auctioning off the last privately owned original copy of the U.S. Constitution on December 13th, 2022. Ep. 11 - Steve from Marin County Swim Association
Marin County Swim Association is a 501(c) non-profit raising funds to make aquatics more accessible in Marin County, CA. Historically, residents have had to travel out-of-county to participate in high-level competitions, creating financial barriers for underrepresented youth to participate. MCSA aims to bring these opportunities back to the community by providing access to tournaments, equipment, and lessons at low or no cost.
In this episode, we discuss the current barriers to access aquatics in Marin County, Steve’s background as a water polo coach, and how he discovered crypto before becoming a JuiceboxDAO contributor.
